About Us

I began collecting Art Deco whilst still at school.  Before I knew it, I was regularly buying and selling Clarice Cliff and Susie Cooper with the aim of upgrading my own ( growing) collection.  My interest in design grew and soon my collecting encompassed everything from the late 19thC Arts & Crafts  and Art Nouveau to the cutting edge designs of the Italian manufacturer Alessi and fab furniture and lighting from the 1960s and 1970s.

My work has included a spell at the prestigeous Wedgwood rooms at Barlaston and as club secretary for British toy maker Merrythought. Both gave me a unique and rare insight into the collectables market and Britsh manufacturing.  Add to the mix a spell as an antique showroom manager- selling everything from Georgian to Edwardian  furniture- and you have a great grounding in the antiques and collectables market. 

But my passion is the power of 20th Century design; Its ability to work with the way we live life in the 21st Century is perhaps one of the reasons it still continues to thrive when other 'antiques' are in decline. The market place is a very different one from when I started collecting.  In today's climate, people are pragmantic and display space is at a premium. Art Deco Express was born with the aim of offering stylish period designs, carefully chosen for a discerning market.
