It's not very often you come across a pair of bronze statues, let alone ones as good as this.  This pretty pair hail from Vienna circa 1930.  Everything about them is just so beautiful, from the lovely onyx bases to the original patina. 

I very rarely buy Art Deco child bronzes, but these are so good.  I rate these way ahead of those produced by Demetre Chiparus as they are dressed in good Art Deco period clothing, from their Russian style hats and muffs to their galloshes! 

Inspite of their obvious quality, they are unsigned, but they are certainly Austrian.  They could have been intended for use as book ends or just as a matching pair of figures- to sit either side of a mantle piece. Whatever their purpose, they are simply adorable.

Size: 16.5 cms tall, 8.5 cms wide, 10 cms deep

Condition: Excellent- the quality you'd expect from Europe's finest bronze producer- Vienna!
