As soon as I saw this bronze I thought it was by Pierre Le Faguays, but it is in fact by Wilhelm Plassmann, a foundry owner who cast a variety of high quality bronze models in Cologne from the turn of the century. Although unsigned it has good provenance.

This lady has very stylised hair and is wearing a cubist ear ring.  Unlike most Art Deco statues, she has an unusual base, which is a bronze disc.  The ball feet are, in fact, stained ivory.

Condition: Excellent original patination
