Art Deco Spelter Nude Lady Bookends- Le Verrier style

These bookends are really nicely modelled spelter and good quality polished
alabaster which is not faded and has a really nice shine to it. The
girls' hair is a really nice bob shape and the patination is all
intact. Condition is excellent with no chips to the stone. One of the
ladies is missing the tip of her little finger, although this is more
than likely to have happened in production as it is old and not'
fresh'. To be honest, you really have to look for this and this is not damage but a production flaw.
What's most
important is that these bookends are actually functional, the measure
approx 14 cms tall. They are very substantial and a very nice example, they
look like the work of the Le Verrier foundry, France, but I think they are probably English circa 1930.
