Wow! What a rare find, a pair of spelter ladies by the master of Art Deco - Josef Lorenzl. These figures have survived over 80 years together and I am offering them as a pair so that they will remain together - as they should.
The figures are from Vienna, cast in one of the many foundrys who produced work of Josef Lorenzl - one of the most collected scuptors of the Art Deco period. The figures are entitled , I believe, Awakening and Pyjama Girl and would have been sold originally as a pair. These figures are high qualityl spelter castings as you would expect from Vienna. They could easily be mistaken for bronze.
They both appear to be wearing silk pyjama suits and high heels so typical of the 1920's film stars. Each stands on a 3-tier alabaster base, which are in very good condition and have a lovely warm amber colour. The quality and detail of each figure is amazing and these would make a really dramatic additionto any Art Deco themed room or Art Deco statue collection. These are genuine Art Deco period pieces in excellent original condition.
