A Wonderful Art Deco wall mask. This is very similar to some of the French Dianaderie works, though I believe it to be Austrian or German in origin. It is made from hand beaten copper or brass with a beautiful patination. This piece can be wall mounted and would look tremendous with some light behind it.
It dates to C1920-30 and coincides with an important book published at the time illustrating tribal artifacts. The Art Deco period drew great inspiration from these sources. This mask is typically Deco and makes a huge statement and looks like something taken from Fritz Lang's futuristic film, Metropolis.
